OK, as I posted on another thread, I scored this Argyll jacket on eBay today. Being that I am at the end of my kilt and kilt accessories budget (actually exceeded it 2 kilts ago!), I am wondering about jacket etiquette. I know that a PC and coatee are the equivalent of coat and tails. The black Argyll jacket is considered fairly formal as well, both because of the color and the style. Then you have the standard tweed jackets in a variety of colors that are the equivalent of a sports coat. Am I correct so far?

Anyway, my question is if a black Argyll jacket, such as I have now purchased, can be dressed down (different buttons, remove epaulets, remove cuffs, etc..) for use in less formal occasions? And has anybody done so?
