First outing in Mercy lightweight Kilt

Today the sun shone and there was no wind so I thought I'd give the new black Mercy kilt which I bought on e-bay for £24.95 its first wearing. Size XL, which is 40 inch waist and 24 inch length. First time I've worn a lightweight non wool kilt. Because of the use of lightweight polyester there is a hem on this kilt, on which a few loose threads needed to be trimmed before stepping out. I replaced the cheap safety pin type kiltpin which came with it, using a proper kiltpin which helps weigh it down. Tried it on with a long black teeshirt with highland stag motif; wearing the teeshirt outside the kilt looked too punk/goth for a man of my age so I tried it with the teeshirt tucked in and added a conventional kilt belt and plain sporran, which give a much more pleasing look, with rugby socks and black shoes. Wore it to go to the post office, which was busy. Didn't get any comments and wasn't aware of any funny looks. Despite the light material the kilt was surprisingly warm due to the double apron at front and pleats at back and also being about an inch longer than the kilts I normally wear, even though all I wore underneath was a dark pair of skimpy briefs.
