I wore my Dark Island again today to go for lunch at the airport with Ann, then my Instrument Flying lesson and then took Ann to the Gateway shopping mall at Gretna Green. This is the more modern Cherokee Warrior which I am hiring for the instrument course as it has a full airways cockpit - the classic 1965 Cherokee 180 which I normally fly is in the background of the top picture. The owner of the Warrior had been flying with a friend in the morning and we met them in the cafe at lunchtime. He, being English made a jocular remark about banning kilts on his aircraft and to my surprise his friend who was also English spoke up in support of the kilt, saying that he had been made to wear one to a function in Scotland once and found it surprisingly a very warm garment, and he considered it ideal wear for a winter's day.
