Dark Island debut
Wore my new Dark Island 5 yard 13 oz from Scotweb today for the first time, with the new lycra fastening belt from EdgesofTime, and later in the afternoon I affixed the Lightning Bolt kilt pin from 21st century kilts to make a hat trick of new items worn today. New kilt is quite light and very comfortable. Today was my first duty day of the new season at the Aviation Museum at Carlisle Airport where I am a weekend volunteer on the rota for the shop and cash desk and the new kilt received a few compliments from customers and colleagues. I went across to the main airport terminal for lunch and got no comments there. The museum secretary made the jocular comment that as I live on the Scottish side of the border and help out at an English museum I should perhaps have one leg in a kilt and one in trousers! Here I am in the engine room at the museum.

What a wonderful debut! What a great setting for it to be seen.

That's a fine look. Seems "normal"......

I love visiting aviation museums. I used to work as a Sign & Display artist when I was younger, I liked to airbrush leather bomber jackets, and I have painted "nose art" on some vintage military planes.
I have a private pilot's license and about 150 hours total flying time, but I haven't flown for years. Work, martial arts, motorcycles and most recently child care all were competing for my time, and flying got pushed to the back burner. It's not really safe to only fly a few times a year, but I have every intention of resuming flying once I can commit to logging 10 hours a month.
I'll be the first to admit that getting a pilot's licence is not a very good use of your time and money.
