I have the horn curving out to the right on the sgian dubh I made myself for that very reason (that and when I cut up an apple which is really the only use I have put the blade to I have it in my hand edge up).



I think it is just that the antler handle is thicker than the oxhorn one from the Scottish Tartans Museum (which is very thin and very smooth).
