Thanks for them pics. "Grant" is a family name going back to my great great uncle - my great great great grandfather's first born after he came back from the American Civil War. No doubt named after the general.
But my grandmother carried it on by giving it to my father as a middle name, and I am a junior, and my daughter and her daughter carry Grant as a middle name too.
Though its not a blood clan, I'm guessing five generations and the original honors make it appropriate. Grandfather Murdoch Macdonald always said the name was in honor of U.S. Grant's hard riding, hard fighting, and hard drinking.
And, its a fine looking tartan too...another one on the wish list.
