Ok, I don't know if this is the correct place for this thread.
So, I am now in charge of a high school marching trombone section. As A kilt wearer, I have "influenced" the group for the last few years before I became fully in charge. we've done braveheart themed shirts. and cheers about freedom.
they have asked me if we could have for this upcoming year a trombone exclusive section kilt.
I am not a person who knows alot about sewing. I know the basics of a sewing machine and thats it. but I don't want to be having others make them, I really want the do it my self.
how do you think I should approach this. Also think, I am not taking any pay on these other than materials. I want them to range in the $10-$20 so I am looking at wal-mart tartan.
I have not made a kilt before, but I have a good idea of how, and these are not going to be the highest quality, I am talking like 15 to 20 1inch knife pleats and and then measured to your size with the pleats centered in your back side. then snip off the end and sew up the velcrow.
I think that this will work, I am not 100% though.
oh, and keep in mind that I will have around 20-25 to do.
OR-
should I just recommend that everyone goes and gets a still water thrifty kilt?
I have a still water economy and I love it. but thats my though. I was thinking of looking into frugal corner as well. (for a finished kilt not fabric)
what are your thoughts?
