Well lads, I think I've brought another one into the fold. My best friend (Russ, who is of mostly German-Czec heritage) has been dropping hints about a desire to wear a kilt since St. Patty's day. I wore a poor Ren-Fest kilt knock off, but since then have gotten a UK and a SWK Standard. I wore my SWK standard to my girlfriend's Mom's Christmas party a few nights ago, and I overheard Russ talking to a few people about how he would like to don a kilt and participate in a kilt night here in Austin (he sounded very intrigued when I told him about kilt nights! I knew he would come around). So, I told him that I had thought about buying him one for Christmas but I thought he would never wear it. He was disappointed.

So now I just need to try and get a kilt night together, so that I can get him to buy the kilt and accessories! He's also expressed interest in doing the Highland Games thing. He's a muscle guy, works in a gym as a fitness manager, and he knows some other guys that participate in the games and wear kilts to them. I think they wear sportkilts, but I am going to point him to the SWK Standard. I have no experience with the Sport Kilt, but the ones that I have seen on guys at the Celtic Fest did not impress me. I also hate the little rampant lion badge they put on the waist band. Kinda tacky. Just my opinion.

Anyway, to wrap it up, I believe a SWK Standard in Black Watch is going to find a new owner in my friend. Maybe I'll buy it for him for his birthday gift, and he can buy the accessories?

Thanks to everyone here for helping me be more knowledgeable on the subject of kilts (I have much to learn though), and for being a support group to all of us who choose to stand for what we believe in.

Aye, fight and you may die, run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!

Yeah, a little dramatic, but what the hey! Merry Christmas to all!
