Maple Leaf Tartan
This may be a little premature, but the anticipation is building.
Around the 1st of July I happened to look on the website for Fraser and Kirkbright and found they had remnants of some 16 ounce Maple Leaf Tartan on sale for $30 per meter!. I put in an order on the 4th of July for 4 meters and paid using PayPal. I know some others also were putting in orders for the same material, so I didn't really know if I got it or not. After waiting almost 4 weeks, I wrote to F&K and quickly heard back from Gordon, that yes, my material had been sent.
Now I'm waiting for it to arrive.
This happened so quickly that I didn't really have time to think about where I wanted to have the kilt made. It seems the tartan begs for a Canadian kiltmaker, and I've been wanting to place an order with our own Wizard of BC so I contacted Steve and he will make a nominal 8 yard traditional kilt whenever I can send the material back to Vancouver, BC, from whence it came. If I had thought this through earlier, I could have had the material sent straight to Steve. I just wish I could get frequent flyer miles on this material!
I think the Maple Leaf is a beautiful tartan. I'm planning to retire to Michigan in a couple of years and look forward to wearing it to some of the Scottish Games in Canada in the future.
This will make kilt number 14.
Just have to be patient.
Tom
