Review of $25 WPG sporran and belt

This inexpensive sporran and belt have been mentioned in several threads but I don't recall seeing a detailed description with pics so here goes. Ordered at 5 p.m. on 9/5, Paypal, arrived in today's mail. Pics are "offline" for now -- I'll get it strapped onto Bigdad1 this evening, if I can, for in situ views.

First impressions, it seems a little small. Those are my (medium female) hands in these shots. All measurements in U.S. inches. Overall pouch is 7 high, 6-3/4 wide at top, 7 wide at its widest point. Gusset is 1-3/4 when expanded at top, barely 1-1/2 at bottom. Opening is 4 inches max if you "stretch" it. Flap seems out of proportion short, only 2-1/2 long from the fold when closed, overall 3-1/4 when opened (from top of body to top of flap). The so-called 48-inch belt is only 46 from tip of buckle to end of strap, glad I didn't choose the shorter option! Belt is 3/4 wide and has silver-tone buckle with roller and a single, sliding loop to catch end of strap.

The belt leather does match the sporran nicely. Belt has a large grain pattern as does the front and back of sporran. Gusset and gusset-to-back binding are a smoother grain of matching color. Label on the back says "all leather made in India." Inside is unlined, just rough side of leather. Closure is brass post screwed to front of body and simple hole/slit in flap. Flap is edged with a single line of stitching in matching thread, ditto the inside top edge. P.S. Not unexpectedly, that sticker left a nasty residue but it came right off with GooGone, no loss of leather color.

It looks well-made and I think it will do well for what it is -- a casual daywear knock-about that will tide us by until we get a better brown sporran. Then I might do some experimenting with this one, convert it to larger, snap-on interchangeable flaps with some fur or leatherwork to dress it up a bit.
