Review of the Brown, Lewis Kilt Hose from Scottish Tartans Museum
* Picture removed. *
The Scottish Tartans Museum's brown, "Lewis Kilt Hose."
* I have mixed up the turms in this description. What I call a cable pattern is actually the ribbing, and the pattern at the top of the hose is the cabling. Thanks for pointing that out Matt. *
We all have heard they are great, so what can I add... Well, here is the neat thing. Starting at the foot, the sole and foot area is noticeably more dense than my other hose. You really can feel the tighter, denser knit. The deep cable pattern *ribbing* is on the top but not the bottom of the foot.
On the leg of the hose, this cable pattern *ribbing* is continued around the circumference. However, the leg part of the hose is not as densely or tightly knitted. Still, it is very substantial compared to my other hose.
Then there is the top... At the point where the hose are folded over there is a distinct ridge around the outside of the hose. I have no idea how these are constructed. Above the ridge, the knitting is denser again.
The pattern on the turned over side of the top is somewhat three dimensional; almost like a relief sculpture. The diamond-like pattern is defined by high ridges, but there are other raised areas and textures... Very interesting and quite fancy feeling. They really are high quality kilt hose.
Thank you to the Scottish Tartans Museum and Matthew Newsome.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
