Fully-Fashioned Kilt Hose - Scottish Tartans Museum

You'll notice that our popular Lewis kilt hose are also available in a "fully fashioned' variety that will accomodate larger calves. By and large these are custom ordered and so will take a while to deliver, but we do like to keep a few colors and sizes available in the shop for those who need them in a hurry, so call or email to ask what might be on the shelf right now.
I finally got a pair of these hose and tried them on. They are snug, but fit very nicely, unlike standard sized hose, which tend to dig into my leg. Usually, when I got standard sized hose, the elastic in the top of the hose would be too tight and I would wind up with an deep indentation around my calf after wearing them for a while.

I haven't worn these all day yet, but they seem like they will work quite well for my 20" calves.

    Dave,

I'm very glad they are working for you! For those interested, I have a couple pair of the fully fashioned in stock yet (one black and one purple, if I remember correctly, in larger sizes). I also have some more coming in a couple of weeks. And I still have some of the extra long garters in stock, as well.

I forgot to mention that the hose also are not stretched beyond recognition when I put them on. When I've tried regular sized hose, you could almost read through them they were stretched so thin.

Good to hear you're happy with them! I also have 20" or so calves, and I only wear a 9.5 shoe. I usually buy size 11-12 hose so they fit my legs better. I have to roll the toe over to keep the heel from coming up in back. I'm sure I could have hose custom made, but at significant $$.

Couldn't you turn them inside out, stitch up well a bit of the toe and cut it off?

On the original topic, I'm thinking I could use me some of those fully fashioned hose right now. I bought a pair of lovat blue hose from a shop in SC, an unfamiliar brand. They did not respond to the laundering in the same way as my other hose, and now they are a wee bit shorter and wee bit snugger. I think I can still feel my ankles, but I'm not sure for how much longer.

    Regards,
    Rex.
