Don't wait until spring; the process can take several weeks & may be longer than when I last did it (2000). You'll need to line up certified birth certificate or other documentation, which can also take time.

Alas, I don't think Edinburgh is on our agenda. Our choir has a date in Canterbury just prior, however.
