So far, just in my dreams...but lookin' to make it practical....think if I did go it would be to explore the Trotternish on Skye...but hey, who knows. Never had a passport...guess its time to look into one.

I will be there for sure and am really looking forward to it. The events are only a few days long so if anyone was thinking they did not want to go because they wanted to see other parts of Scotland you will have plenty of time to do so. As far as I know the events in Edinburgh are only 2 or 3 days long. Of course there are always small events on going through out the year but I am referring specifically to the parade, games and piping at the castle.

Ron, a passport is like a drivers license, you will never no how much you have been missing and the sense of freedom it gives you until you have one. Once you do you will wonder how you ever got by without one.

Aye, my pal Jim and I will be in Edinburgh for 'The Gathering' weekend next July. Our accommodation has been booked for months and we are assured of our Silver Passports, giving entry to all the main events and places in the parade up the Royal Mile from Holyrood to The Castle. All we need now is the company of good friends (also assured) and fine weather!
Take care,
Ham.

I'll be over that way for approximately 2 weeks, including the days of the Gathering!

Much as it would be lovely to be there I cannot help feeling that it's being held to make money first and foremost with all these expensive passports etc.
So I will give it a wide berth and look at all the photos taken by those who do attend.

I agree with McClef that it smells like what we tactful Americans call a "Tourist Trap". If I get to Scotland next Summer it won't be to pay those prices. Anyway, I expect the highlights to appear on Youtube within a week.

Would love to go. Haven't been to Mull since the 50's. Last time across the border and into Edinboro was in 1996. Unfortunately the economic situation reduced the travel fund by far too much. So those of you go, post lots of pictures.

I will be there along with my wife and two kids. Looking forward to a great experience. We are planning on staying for about three weeks. Hope to meet up with some of the xmarkers while we are over.
