Okay, I may get a lot of grief for posting this, but I have been in the market for a decent pair of tan/brown leather ghillie brogues for daywear with my brown belt and sporran. Tough to find in my size 13-13.5. And when I do find them they so far have been outrageously expensive.

I was cruising the web this morning and on Heritage of Scotland (yes the dreaded Gold Bros store) they had their monthly sale on which today includes tan (maybe black too) leather upper, composite sole ghillie brogues for about24.24gbp for us outside the EU including shipping. I couldn't pass that deal by especially since they had my size. But when I went through checkout the price dropped to 14.24gbp (about $23us) including shipping. We will see if the deal goes through as it says on my checkout sheet or not---better believe I am printing out that confirmation as we speak. Will keep you posted as things progress in the next weeks.

But anybody in the market for a medium grade brown ghillie might consider taking a chance on this one. I thought it was worth the price at the original 24.24gbp (about $37 US) but at the 14.24gbp checkout price ($23 US) I think I will get them for they are likely to be a steal.

Okay, now feel free to slam me for shopping HoS, but I keep checking their sales, and if you can stand wading through the majority of the crap they list on their sales you can occasionally find that diamond in the rough. For instance, a couple months ago they had a sale on tartan at 20% off, and I found the hard to get Allen 1996, which normally would have been a custom order at around $50-60 per yard single width, listed on their website at slightly less than $55 per METER double width in a supposedly stock item of 13 oz Dalgleish made tartan. After a couple weeks they contacted me that it was NOT in stock, but honored the price and sent out a custom order to Dalgleish to make up 8 meters of single width to complete the order. So I in essence got my fabric customed for around half price---not too bad. Diamond in the rough.
