Ultimate Warrior on Spike TV (warning: spoilers, perhaps)
DO NOT READ IF YOU'VE RECORDED THIS FOR FUTURE VIEWING AND DO NOT WANT SPOILERS...
did anyone see the first episode of deadliest warrior on spike tv? i've been looking forward to this show since i first saw the promotions for it weeks ago and during the premiere last night, I FELL ASLEEP! as i felt the sandman taking me into his warm embrace, i couldn't tivo it because my remote is broken.
last night was apache v gladiator and was interesting despite being ludicrous. each side of the arguement actually had a scholarly/practicing representitive to be the face of the warrior in the debate. each of the warriors from last night were very passionate about their arguement and were seemingly knowledgeable about the history and technique of the weapons and tactics involved in that warrior's repetoire. the apache guy was WELL into it.
they used computer models, video/visual evidence as well as digital equipment to measure force applied by and speed of delivery of their most common weapons to determine which were most effective. they even had human model torsos filled with facsimile organs and blood to gauge internal damage. using the evidence, they then re-enacted a one on one fight to illustrate the ultimate warrior in this particular showdown.
this is when i fell asleep. who won? it was beginning to seem as though the apache would take the gladiator. a couple of arrows from thirty yards and the gladiator would be toast. in close combat, though, who's to say?
from what i saw (about 90%) before i fell asleep, i highly recommend this show to history buffs. looking forward to future episodes.
