any watchmen fans out there? i've read the story about three times since it was first collected into a trade paperback years ago, and most recently this week in anticipation of seeing the film last night.

the one question i've always had and that i was hoping would be addressed in the movie is how does rorschach's mask constantly shift through the various permutations of the rorschach ink blot visual? i even went back to the book today to satisfy my curiosity... no luck. unless someone out there points out something obvious to me that i've overlooked, i guess i'll need to do the wise thing and simply suspend belief.

the movie's gotten very mixed reviews, but i must say that i thoroughly enjoyed it. despite being longish, it was paced very well and i felt brought a wonderful new dimension to a story that is already reknowned for its stunning graphic qualities as well as its fascinating, groundbreaking story.

the work is already a comic book classic (regularly turning up on critics' greatest comics ever lists. i think this movie will be viewed in the future as a science fiction classic, as well. i'm sure others will diagree. enjoy!
