I had the opportunity to be at a "black tie" event the other night. I put that in quotes because the invitations weren't explicit and it was with a bunch of people I see most weeks and who don't normally get dressed up that much anyway...

That said, I followed the guidelines in another thread about The Kilt Looks and bought a bow-tie to go with my Stillwater Shadow Tartan, a white shirt I already had, a second-hand jacket that I didn't have time to convert into an Argyll, white long socks I've had for ages and a Nightstalker sporran. Yes, there was a budget. And it was the first time I'd gone out wearing a sporran.

So where does the thing hang? Is it supposed to fall between your legs when you're sitting? Or is it meant to hug the front of the kilt higher up?

And while I think of it, how heavy should it get? Mine had my wallet, keys, phone and a handkerchief and I wouldn't want it any heavier than that! It was also quite full... I don't think an iPhone would have fit instead of my SE G900.
