id been watching ebay for sometime on the search for anything to do with my surname and spotted this kilt
i ended up winning it for the cheap sum of £80 and was the only bidder

its a Chisholm hunting muted tartan some of the colours are similar to the Chisholm ancient tartan but somewhat darker

i took a pic to show the differences between the two tartans

its seems to be almost new but the makers tag has the old telephone area code for Edinburgh 031 rather than the modern 0131 so that could date it to pre 1995
interestingly this kilt has a 27 inch drop im 6 ft tall and my current kilt was made to measure and it has a drop of 24.5 inches so i guess that explains why alot of folk aren't wearing the right length kilt of they buy one from a decade or so ago it was 34/36 inch waist so way too big for me my kilt is a slinky 28 inch
its alot lighter than my kilt so id assume the kilt is lesser quality wool and less yardage than my Chisholm ancient

well rather than keep the kilt i decided to give it to my eldest nephew (he`s 17) it`ll be his first kilt id already bought a younger nephew a black watch tartan kilt a few months back ... so its nice to be able to buy another family member the Chisholm hunting tartan for his first kilt

my auld man is taking him to a wee shop in Hamilton to have the kilt tailored for his height

and here is three of the many Chisholm tartans available for my clan
the left one is the Chisholm hunting muted the centre ,my Chisholm ancients hunting and the far left is misses Chisholm ancient weathered kilt skirt
