time passes and friends pass on
Just got in touch with someone I used to work with at a psych facility in south florida. As she brought me up to date on the people that I knew she told me that someone I was good friends with had passed away. Funny how things touch you. I had not been in touch with this fellow for quite awhile, and yet when we worked together we were good friends. Two more unlikely pals would be hard to find. He served in Viet Nam, I was a conscientious objector. The one common thing was our work place and the very strange people we dealt with on a daily basis. Strange, I had not spoken with him in about two years, but I feel an emptiness, a loss of a friend. Reminds me to keep in touch with those I know and to reach out to make new ones. Not something that I do easily, I am a reticent individual when it comes to friendships, I make a few good friends. Just needed to express myself, helps dealing with this loss. Thank you.

Friends are a precious gift, however they are precious becasue they are not around forever, make the most of it while thay are around, because when they are not youd give anything for just 1 minute with them!
As for friends who are past, its important to remember that they could have given their friendship to anyone but they chose you!. Its better to have a few true friends than a brace of associates!
Be safe

Sad news...
Maybe a silly idea, but why not visit his grave? just to say goodbye.
...and I wholeheartedly agree with Daz...wise words.

I too fall victim to not keeping in touch with old friends...
I have said it for years "Friends are the family you choose, not the family you are born into."
I'm sorry to hear of you loss.

I have fallen into the same trap. I drift away from people that I really care about, most times due to distance and schedules. I am just now starting to track down old friends that I've lost touch with. Thank goodness for the internet.
My deepest condolences to you.

It is tough to lose a friend, even if the miles do seperate us, keeping in touch is difficult. My heart and thoughts go out to you, and as has been said earlier, look at what they brought to the friendship.
May you have peace.

Sorry to hear of your friend. There is a deep sense of lost, even when we have been separated by time and/or miles.
