I second that, in a big way. There's a strong inclination for many folks to think that every single piece of attire that they wear with a kilt must be a "Scottish" piece of attire. To my thinking, that's nonsense.
Wear what makes you happy, under all circumstances.
...that said, your attire will have a much more cohesive level of formality if dress shoes are worn in place of the boots.
