I would consider Riverkilt an expert on your question, given his proximity to your local and his considerable experience with both wool and PV!
I have a PV casual from USAK and am very happy with it, in its intended role.
I would add that Skye Highland Outfitters also offers competitively priced, high quality, PV kilts and has a different tartan selection than some of our other sponsors/advertisers.
As others have said, its a great material for its intended purpose, and in a traditional style kilt may even have some added versatility that a similar wool kilt does not offer.
