As a few of you know, my husband and I were invited to join a private 18th century costuming group with no rules (as in, we won't be saying "that's not accurate" -- we simply are a bunch of costumers who wanted to change the fact that there were no chances to make and wear 18th century clothing in our area). Okay, I lie... the only real rule is you have to dress richly. Fine by me!

Although Christopher is fine wearing whatever, we decided to basically go for a Bonnie Prince Charlie look. Great kilt etc, but silk jacket and waistcoat. I've only sewn his shirt so far, and have only made a few of my items (more on that in a moment), but we decided to start ordering some of our accessories that I either can't make or don't have time for. Which leads me to....

His sporran! I was told to contact Joe Gondek about his sporrans and he is currently making a black Rob Roy for Christopher. He could have gone 18th-century-accurate with the design, but we decided that since Christopher only had the small, cheap sporran he bought with his first kilt that he's not fond of... well, we'd use this one as his new main sporran. It would need to fit both uses. So a black Rob Roy it is!

Joe has been great to work with so far, very helpful and friendly! We're both so excited to see how the sporran turns out. Christopher recently purchased better kilt hose, so it's nice to get him another item that will add to his choices.

Unfortunately.... here's where things start slowing down after I finish sewing my current projects and the sporran is in our hands. Christopher just found out that his company (one he's only been with a few weeks now! D'oh!!!) lost their contract and unless they find another client or two... his last day will be the 20th So no more purchases after this.

Hopefully he'll be able to find something quickly, so I won't get too far off schedule (the group's first event is a picnic in early November... I was already nervous I wouldn't make it before this happened). Well, that and so we won't be stressing out of course

I'll definitely post a review when the sporran arrives!
