In the closest file are the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, in the furthest file the Black Watch (who are now one of the Battalions of the Royal Regiment of Scotland). The fourth and fifth-furthest files seem to be made up of members of various Battalions of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
The rest of the files appear to be non-Scottish pipe bands, some of them civilian.
Back in the early years of the Tattoo the ranks could easily be filled with Scottish military pipe bands, there being a dozen at that time.
