eBay kilt cornucopia
I am astonished at my recent eBay kilt purchase; it came with a bunch of other great kit!
The auction was for a "Scottish McGuire Clansman Outfit" and included a kilt in the MacQuarrie tartan. According to the clan MacQuarrie website, McGuire (my Irish family name) is considered to be a sept of MacQuarrie...
The auction picture showed a MacQuarrie kilt, tweed Argyle, glengarry hat, tartan trews, and tartan waistcoat. When it arrived today, I was very happy to find hose, flashes, and TWO MacQuarrie tartan ties as well!
The kilt is medium weight worsted wool and approximately 5.5 yards of material. The waist is a bit bigger than the seller describe but the length is a bit shorter... and it fits not too bad The trews and waistcoat, however, fit perfectly. Now I just need to figure out how to put an outfit together with tartan trews...
Sound too good to be true? It is... even though it was a good price for all that I received, I can't afford it on my student budget. I already have a Harris tweed kilt jacket and hopefully I can sell either it or the new tweed Argyle to recoup my splurge.
Here's a photo of me wearing each jacket along with the new kilt, hose, flashes, and glengarry. I'm still not sure what to think about glengarry hats in general or this specific one with its giant feathered broach... my hair was a mess though
Which jacket looks better?
herringbone tweed Argyle
Harris tweed crail (the circle on the jacket is from the camera lens)
