In regards to customizing the length, although I will defer to those who have actual experience, it may be easier to cut a piece out of the middle and sew them back together at the right length (never seen) then to mess with the fringe end. Just a thought.
Matt may need to speak to this (as he brought up)....I haven't done it yet, but it looks to me like the fringe is a seperate /"solid" piece that is easily removed and then reattached/wraps around the end (does that make it sense?).
I plan to try it next week.
