Wool fabric costs
I have made one kilt before, from 18oz material bought cheaply on Ebay. Although I didn't pay much, the fabric was very high quality Ministry of Defense material destined for The Highlanders regiment. Sadly, The Highlanders ceased to be. Fortunately for me, I got a great deal.
I now have the urge to make my second kilt and I am staggered at the costs of 16oz material. I have looked at the Marton Mills Jura range, but unfortunately they do not have the tartan(s) I want.
Other outlets seem to be charging a price that is only so much cheaper than actually having a kilt made that it hardly seems worth the effort to DIY.
Do any forum members have any experience/recommendations for good UK based woolen kilt material suppliers that just might provide great value?
Or do I just have to grit my teeth and decided to DIY or just go to a kilt maker?
