I never would have taken the leap into the big world of kiltification had my months of lurking not equipped me to make sound decisions (or maybe some of you will disagree!) concerning my kilt purchase. Reading what was inviolate and what could be tweaked to personal taste yielded this:

The kilt is a 14oz Welsh "tartan" (I can feel the collective cringe) made by USA Kilts (premier style). The sheriffmuir jacket was my chief concern, since I loved the look of the jacket and waistcoat, but not the traditional lace jabot & cuffs. Some gents who posted pics wear them quite well, but they would be too jarringly inconsistent with my personality. The silk cravat was an option some members discussed, and I went with it. I think it works quite well.

I would like to give special thank you's to Rocky of USA Kilts, John Hart of Keltoi and Alexis Malcolm...their superior patience and products made the journey fun and much less intimidating. Their excellent customer service is what we should demand from anyone wanting our business!
