Your hip...
Dale,
When my wife flew to NYC after her surgery, she DID set off the metal detector. She recommends telling them ahead of time as you're getting ready to pass through...though I'm not sure why it really matters if you're going to set it off regardless.

Oh, I intend to. Speaking as a security professional: Trust me, it does matter.

I go between the Ren Scots and the Clan tents, and I also watch the music, and athletic events.

I'll make a point of checking in with Nighthawk at Renscots when I get there; that way anyone wanting to meet can at least know whether I've shown up yet.
Oh, and Saturday is definite. I'll have my dad along, at least initially.

I look forward to seeing you! When you get to our camp, just ask for Travis if you don't spot me initially. I get up and wander from time to time- especially at festivals where Angus Mohr and Seven Nations are playing- but I'll be around, and not hard to find. Also, I'll be staying for the entire evening- 7N usually play until 10 or 10:30, and we can use my tent as a base of operations.

About to board at San Jose Airport. Had to do the scanner thing due to the new hip of course, but getting through TSA was a breeze. The only comments on the kilt so far have been complimentary.

Dale, I look forward to seeing you. My camera batteries are charging, my ancient kilt is pleated and ready to go for the morning, flask is full, all lights are green, and I'm going to bed...

Hope you two have fun up there.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Checked the event site a couple weeks ago and didn't see Douglas as a participating clan, so -- though I wore a Douglas Weathered kilt on the plane and also brought a Douglas Grey one -- the one I wore today was the California State tartan.
And of courese there WAS a douglas tent. I marched with the Douglases in the opening clan processional.
