    2010 Rocky Mountain Highland Games

I take pictures primarily for the Renaissance Scots Living History Society. We were at the 2010 Rocky Mountain Highland Games and Scottish Festival. Thought I would share pictures from the day!

    We'll start with my son:

These are our spinners and weavers. They start with the wool right of the sheep (which another member of our group owns and sheers, by the way) and spin it, dye it, and weave it into tartan.

The nucleus of the new, just-debuted-this weekend Renaissance Scots leather shop:

This is a local Irish band called Sgain Dubh, jamming in our weaver's tent.

    Shannan- she's just a sweetheart!

My wife in the blue, and Michaela in the burgundy.

The fight ring, where kids can fight with bamboo swords under (semi)responsible adult supervision, hosted by the Wolves of Dunvegan, the fighting arm of the Renaissance Scots:

The guy in the kilt is Doc. Dave. He's a very accomplished swordsman, highly skilled, and brutal! Poor girl picked the fighter she thought she had the best chance against... People often make that mistake. Doc is on fat old man you DO NOT want to pick a fight with! This girl was a great sport. I don't know who had more fun- her or Doc!

All in all a great day! More to come tomorrow!

Next installment! This is our new pub mascot:

The chief and his family having a picnic:

My son with the chief's kids. He has a way of making little kids feel comfortable:

Maggie hath slain my boy!! Just 14 short months ago, that little girl couldn't even walk, let alone fight a duel! What a long way she's come!

    The Chief surveying his clan:

Someone (Robert, our big stout Highland lad) stole the grouse from the Famous Grouse tent, and someone else (Danny, Kenny...) violated the heck out of the poor thing!

Great pics, Travis. I was using my wife's camera there and ended up having to set the thing back up Sunday evening, they were coming out like ...

I did see an old "friend" there. Ralph, he was set up across the way from us. For those that don't know, Ralph is/was the driving force behind Clansman Knitwear. He is now representing St. Kilda. I still trust him just as much. And that means nowhere near as far as my 3 year old grandson can throw him. Although, he did have some good pricing on colored piper hose, $20/pr as opposed to about $30 that another vendor had the same ones for.
