This is a fantastic photo of how the hair tufts are attached! I've not seen this before. Thanks for posting this.
Looking at the holes for mounting the cantles (depending on their spacing, I don't think you will have much trouble finding a cantle for it. You'll just need to identify the style you want. Take a look at L & M Highland Outfitter's Sporran Builder and you'll see 3 or 4 different cantle styles commonly seen on hair sporrans. Then, there are also leather cantles you could use for a different look.
