A kilty wedding...

Oh come off it Paul! I have said----clearly----that there is a new convention in the making . It matters not one jot what I think, as people are voting with their wallet and are choosing to do something else, we are on the cusp of a change and I have said so. I have all so voiced an opinion----my opinon, no one else's---- that it is rather a shame, but there we go.

You have indeed made my point for me, it doesn't matter very much at all, all that is important is that people can make changes without being told they are wrong.
Change is a normal and natural part of life, of all our lives,when I was a boy computers hardly existed, and when you were a boy..... and today we can engage in all sorts of fora,and have all sorts of discussions, and have almost immediate contact and responses. Change isn't always bad, it often is just different, and often we can become frightened by it, when really we should be interested and open to see what new things there are, we might not always like the changes, but that I am afraid is what change is all about, we do not live in the past.

Paul, I note with interest that many-----some?----- of the kilts that you so skillfully make are to a two hundred plus year old basic design, so not all things that are "old" have been superseded either! LOL

I am all for changes for the better and in conjunction with changes for the sake of change and changes for the worse should all be studied closely by interested parties and fairly judged and an opinion is thought, or, offered as is every one's right so to do. Whether we are talking about ballistics, jet engines, tractors, sewing machines, kilt attire, or anything else. Nothing wrong in that and as you say these discussions a rather more immediate these days.

Many many years ago when my brother was getting married he wanted to wear a PC despite the wedding being mid afternoon. The hire Company wanted to charge twice the amount as they stated that it was evening dress and in our case we would have to have it longer than normal so we would be charged for two days. We ended up in grey morning suits complete with top hats.

Out of interest, can one hire a more appropriate, for a formal day wedding, a black barathea, silver buttoned argyll, from a company in the UK? Anywhere?

I dont know about nowadays, but most of the kilt shops in Aberdeen would have 15 years ago... I think some of them even rented out tweed...
