Re: Surprise !
Love the jacket (coatee?)! Are the leather straps based off an original pattern? I think I'd like it better with just the buttons. But, in either case - a fantastic outfit..!
PS. A suggestion: wear the baldric strap under the plaid.

Re: Surprise !
I have no idea on the historical correctness, but I think it looks SHARP! I love the buckle straps on the jacket's front and sleeves. For such a minor addition, it really changes the look. And the buckle shoes and bonnet really go well. All in all, a fantastic look! Definitely not for every day occasions, though!
I'm a bit curious on the way you have the plaid pinned to the front. It looks like you did a straight fold of the plaid and just pinned it through all the layers, leaving a rather square edge. Was this historically done, or is it a unique interpretation/combination of wearing a shepherd's plaid in a more historically-inspired fashion?

Re: Surprise !
Robert, you look like a portrait from the early 19C. You are lucky to be married to such a talented lady.

The plaid brooche is just pinned on the few first layers.
I've seen this done in Scotland. I thought it was rather unusual, so I just went for it as well !
BTW, thank you all for the nice comments.

What would be the technical difference between a "doublet" and a "coatee" ?
