Re: OVER THE TOP: peacocks amongst the penguins
Teufel H,
Somehow I missed your stunning photo. I hope people will remember this shot when pondering a Montrose doublet. Well done, indeed, sir, and THANKS to all who have contributed so far.
Some take the high road and some take the low road. Who's in the gutter? MacLowlife

Last time I wore my kilt in 1999. Tartan is the Utah Centennial Tartan which I co-designed with the late Dr. Phil Smith. Got then Gov. Mike Leavitt to sign into law. If I was to have a new kilt it would be the Irish National.

Slightly OT, but while I recognise the neck jewel of the Noble Society of the Celts, I cannot place your brest star and badge -- is the one from the Augustan Society?

I think the garish red Modern Cunningham kilt looks better when it is paired with a black Argyle jacket.

Or the tartan waistcoat could be worn with black trousers or a black kilt.

A saffron kilt is perhaps a bit over the top when worn with matching polo shirt and soccer socks.
That last tends to look a little like you are dressed to work on building a highway, to avoid being run over by traffic! I know the first time I saw myself in reflection in my saffron kilt I was taken aback by how bright it really was, and I was mainly dressed in green besides the kilt.

Cajunscot: Lower badge is "Order of Armigerous Augustans" and the breast star is "Company of the Rose" a noble company in the Augustan Society. I don't wear these anymore cause I'm inactive.

Aha! I thought it might be an AS badge. Unfortunately, there are no pictures on the AS web site of their regalia, more's the pity.

Er.... is there sad news in the tartan world that I am unaware of, or was this a mistake in your post?

You mean the groom is on the right in the picture?
