Re: Missing Thread
Well, in the 7+ years I've been a member, I've never reported any post or thread - and could never see myself doing so. When someone posts something stupid or out-of-bounds (as I myself have done!), the membership generally steps in and chastises the offending oaf - within the thread - and debates usually then proceed in an adult manner. When they don't, I'm then very understanding of the mods stepping in and shutting things down - especially if an OP requests same.
It's the "anticipation" of threads going south, and prematurely canning them, that bothers me - plus the (deny it all you like!) hyper-sensitivity of some members. "Reporters" should sometimes be gently told they're out of line. Perhaps they are....
Sgians dubh brought up in a kilt forum? The horror! Actually, that thread disappeared so fast I never even got to read the "offensive" content.
(Sorry to be so troublesome! If I didn't love this Forum so much, I wouldn't bother.)

Brian, that is the whole point. The offensive content had NOTHING to do with sgians dubh.

Well not that it matters or not; but I did not report the thread. If you can believe it a thread on if a person can wear a sgian dubh in Scotland turned into the rights of people to own sulfur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate using devices.

Ah, now I understand what I missed! The "Devices Which Cannot Be Named" were in play. It's all clear, now....

Re: Missing Thread
'Fraid I'm the guilty party - I made the thread scoot into the moderator only section and then couldn't find the 'put explanation here' box.
In the words of Rule 11 - it was going downhill fast.
On a scale of 1 to 10 the argument was up to around 15, but hopefully it can be pruned of the off topic posts and restored to the open forum.
If you didn't get to read the offensive comments - that is good - the system is working -
