Am I missing something...?
I'm curious to know if I'm missing something, but to me, this seems like a VERY good deal....
http://cgi.ebay.com/Tweed-Jacket-Ves...item905afce8f8
I don't see anything on there that makes me suspicious other than the price? This has me particularly puzzled when I compare it to their website
http://www.heritageofscotland.com/Da...01,product.php
where the price is fully double what they have it listed for on ebay?
What is it that I'm missing, simply that it's only available in one colour?

Hmmmm
The only thing I can see is that the main web page offers it in a variety of colors and tweeds and the discount one is only available in Charcoal. Maybe just an abundance of the one color and they want to clear it out? Maybe last years shade of charcoal and this years is a bit darker/lighter etc. Both are for vest and jacket...
I don't see anything obvious.
Go for it!

You can have any two of price, quality, or service.
They don't specify the weight of the wool. You may wish to check that out.

I just bought some tartan from them and am very happy. Their ebay price was half what everybody else was. It seemed unbelievable, and when it came , it was so nice and at that price four more band members ordered the tartan for new kilts.
I figured it was the end of a bolt, can I get enought etc. so I emailed and called them. They responded quickly to my email questions and even called me back with the exact amount they had left. And.....it took less than a week to get here by Fedex from Scotland! Both shipments!!
Email and ask more about it.

I've sent in a question asking about the cloth weight.
I also recently received an order from them for an 8 yard wool kilt in the Heritage of Scotland tartan and the price was nearly unbelievable for the quality of the item. I have high hopes that the jacket may be similarly priced for its quality. (IE nearly too good to be true!)

I'm lookin' and it looks like one of the jackets that one of our members had for sale last year. Long story that I won't get into but he eventually set up a web site to sell them rather than through the forum.
I did get one and, if it's the same type, it's okay and of a decent weight fabric. Not custom made fine tailoring but certainly a very adequate off-the-rack type jacket. The dark color makes it look a little more formal than I'd like and, in retrospect, a middle grey tweed would have probably been more flexible (and is still on my things-to-get list).
When I got one through the member, vests weren't available and that's something that I wish was get-able in that deal...the vest helps a lot in terms of versatility.

I have had well over a dozen purchases from them and have not had cause to regret one of them. All have been value for money and delivered in a timely fashion.
Just one example: A contemporary jacket and five button waistcoat, delivered to my door in seven days. The total cost - £15 If I don't change shape it will last a lifetime.
If you are going to wear a particular jacket every day (like a uniform), then you need the very best hard wearing material. If on the other hand, you will be rotating your jackets and only wearing it one a month, then you will only need a far lesser quality.

I have dealt with them on several occasions and generally been happy with their product and service so far.
The deal you see on eBay (110 +12gbp s/h), when compared to getting the same jacket and waistcoat off their website (at 127.65gbp) with free shipping, only saves you a little less than 4gbp, or around $6 US. It is listed as their Imported Grey Araca Fashion Tweed Jacket & Vest, which means probably sewn in Pakistan of non-scottish woven material. No judgement made with that statement, just clarifying what you are getting for your money.

I picked one of these up from Paul last year. WHile I absolutely love the jacket and vest, it IS NO WHERE near the feel and quality of my tweed Argyll jacket from Geoffrey the tailor. It is a VERY light weight wool. Again, I like it, but it was worth only what I paid for it 80£.

There does seem to be a significant downturn in the amount of money around in the UK at the moment - my husband is moving his business to smaller premises as maintenance contracts are not being renewed, the offices next door were going to take over the space but have now decided not to expand, there are shops vanishing overnight - I am getting enquiries for second hand equipment where people would normally be going to the larger dealers.
It could just be the final wringing out of the recession, or the Euro crisis, whatever is going on I suspect that quite a few businesses are looking at what they can sell off without incurring the normal expenses.
We are living in fairly interesting times.
Good Heavens - my number of new posts is correct!! That is unusual.
I feel I ought to mark the event in some way.
