I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose… Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
When I was in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War as journalist, we used to drink what they localy called the "Saudi Champagne": some apple juice in which they had let brew a big bunch of mint as well as edges of orange and lemon, the whole was lengthened at last instant with effervescent water Perrier. Very refreshing!!! Of course, some naughty boys tried it also with some vodka, what was absolutely not local but very interesting!
Hmmm! They still have sarsaparilla drinks. Very interesting. I seem to remember drinking a root beer featuring sarsaparilla flavoring at a soda fountain shop in Texas a long while back. I think it would have been sassafras in it or something like that.
