Hey, great idea; I really like that look. I think I'll try it too. Laird M -- I wonder if this has anything to do with why the ties for traditional brogues are tied so far up the legs? (I usually wear slip-on buckled or bowed brogues). Great look!

How far up the legs do you think they should be tied? I only tie mine just above my ankle (3-4 inches at most above the top of the shoe at the ankle), and it's been suggested by some - here and elsewhere - that even that's too high.
To the OP, great ingenuity, and it goes well with the rest of your ensemble.

Heck, I don't know but I watched a video (by one of the kilt shops) showing how to tie them several ways, one "short" just above the ankle and another long higher up the calf. I've seen fellows wearing them tied quite high at highland games. But what do I know, I wear buckled or bowed slip-ons -- too lazy to tie shoes
