    Scarf leg wrappings

I don't have any actual 'hose' socks yet ... the only ones I can find in a store (where I got my kilt) are kind of expensive ($30). So I've been basically using scarves as leg wrappings.

These are some scarf leg wrappings (short normal socks underneath ... scarves wrapped around calves - long laces from shoes winding around calves and tied - other laces at top wrapped around and tied. Just a rough idea from looking at Viking and Anglo-Saxon leg wrappings

    You're pulling it off, man.

...now all you need to do is rig a sporran to keep your lunch in.

Thumbs up Re: Scarf leg wrappings

    Actually, they look very authentic!

Wrappings were used long before socks/hose were even thought of.

    Well done mate.

Necessity is the mother of invention... now what are you going to do for a sporran?

Hey, great idea; I really like that look. I think I'll try it too. Laird M -- I wonder if this has anything to do with why the ties for traditional brogues are tied so far up the legs? (I usually wear slip-on buckled or bowed brogues). Great look!

Cool! One wonders if this is how "kilt Hose" were first created.

Very interesting! I like the way it looks. Really does make you wonder if this is the reason ghillie brogue laces are so long.

I love it! The answers lie at the edge of the envelope and beyond....AND, in the olde ways.

I always figured it was to take care of the baggieness around the ankle that results when wearing traditionally made (one piece) cut and sewn hose.
