Well, just choose your documents. I would still be surprised if this were representative of the position of our Grand Master. I know all of the players in this drama too well and too personally.

Re: For Ontario Freemasons
Brethren,
Whilst discussion of kilts in various circumstances is always welcome in these forums we must also think about what is said and the circumstances in which they are said.
The issue is purely to do with the Grand Lodge of Ontario and the interpretation of dress rules within it. There is clearly a difference of perception.
Whereas the issue if of course of interest to Masons in general and possibly to non Masons who are interested in seeing the kilt being worn as widely as possible they cannot influence or participate in the debate.
It is important that the facts are established but bringing the argument into a public forum in this way is something that requires tact and delicacy and it must be of general relevance to all.
I do not say this with my my Mod had on but we also have to make sure that things stay within the rules here.
So please bear that in mind before posting, Thanks.
(Right I can now have that glass of wine to celebrate my Second this evening)!

Re: For Ontario Freemasons
I've spoken to my district secretary and he informs me that no communique or email stating that Kilts were either frowned upon or banned from lodge (banned may not be the right word to use, but you get my point lol ) was ever received by himself or our current DD. I was quite close to our previous DD and he and I enjoyed wearing our kilts, he was restricted by his office to good old tails, but if such a communique or email would have been received by himself or his secretary, I would have been one of the first to know as he made it a point to attend all of my meetings to sit at my left.

Re: For Ontario Freemasons
I own a tux and 3 kilts. A P.C. and an Argyll. If my lodge does not accept me, the are other lodges that will take my dues money. Also, there is a lodge in New Jersey that goes around to defferent Jersey lodges doing the degree work in kilts. Canadians! Come On Down!

A somewhat long trip for a Lodge evening methinks!

Re: For Ontario Freemasons
The OP had requested that this thread be closed for reasons of Harmony.
Hopefully he will indeed be able to serve his Lodge in a kilted capacity as the Worshipful Master of his Lodge in due course.
Should any actual problems be experienced than the issue could be looked at again.
Many thanks to all who have contributed.
