First Day Kilted At The New Job
So, I've been working at the Navajo Nation residential treatment center in town for seven weeks now. After the "adventures" at the last agency around my kilts I held off here. But St. Andrew's Day seemed the time to get on with it.
Wore my hand sewn Arizona tartan with a light blue dress shirt and light blue hose. Tan Filson travel vest in lieu of a sporran, and my leather Tilted Kilt Las Vegas (RIP) jacket.
No problems, nothing but compliments today. When my desert digital camo Utilikilt Survivor II arrived last week the boss wanted to see it, she examined it in detail and liked it.
Today, she asked me to be kilted for some trainings I'll be doing for the Western Navajo region next month.
Whew!!

Great Post Ron. I wear my kilts to work with no problems whatsoever.
Glad they are appreciated at your new workplace.

When did you work at the Tilted Kilt?

Never. Visited there when it was at the Rio before it closed. Also visited the dive bar neighborhood Tilted Kilt in Las Vegas that gave its name to the chain. Real sad place with a few wrinkled travel posters for decor.

Re: First Day Kilted At The New Job
I have always been amazed at the reaction of the native American side of my family in referance to the kilt and me playing the pipes. They really admire the heritage but I think it may be because I also hold the native blood in me dear as well.
Thanks for sharing but you are known for your pics. You must share the pics!!

That's good news, Ron. You're lucky to have a boss who shows an interest in the kilt and will let you wear it on the job. Wearing your kilts out in the field is a great way to combine two proud heritages.

Hey, that Islandkilt guy up there is my little brother who maybe soon will introduce himself.
Just got his first kilt for a wedding over on Maui. Gotta believe he's gonna wear it to the Pub too and maybe DANCE in it to the Celtic Tigers.
I'm so damned proud of him!
