Re: Kilts in new Sherlock Holmes

I am reading the stories now, I guess that I should really say I seem to read them continually. At any rate I agree with quite a bit of what I'm reading here. I think Jeremy Brett was absolutely the quintessential Holmes. I am I would say an open minded purist, however I do have strong prejudices. When I first heard of Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes I was none too pleased with the idea. I did have fun when I saw it, however I would rather watch the Granada TV program. I also enjoyed the new Sherlock on the BBC though I wish there had been more episodes.

Recently I read a short story called Moriarty The Life and Times of a Criminal Genius, I thought the idea was one that had merit, and I enjoyed the read.

I did not, it was as if the writer had a copy of " Sherlock Holmes for Dummies and The Annotated Sherlock Holmes" in front of him listing every mention of Moriarity from the Canon, pastiches and parodies. Moriarity would never list all his crimes to Sherlock, they are both geniuses and already know everything about each other.

To be fair the only place Moriarty is mentioned while living was in the Final Problem, though I agree Moriarty would not confess everything to Holmes. Holmes of course would have deduced all before Moriarty could confess at any rate.
