Re: Kilts in new Sherlock Holmes
What about a silhouette to avoid being associated with one portrayal?

Yup. I like 'em all! That says Sherlock Holmes to most people.

Oh my ..... choices, choices.
Okay *if* everyone would rather do a silhouette then I'd like to submit this one that I think is just a cut above (in detail):
I'm going to go ahead and create a Sherlockian social group this weekend (Sunday). This way anyone who wishes to comment on the name (The Aberdeen Shipping Co.), or suggest another & wish to also comment/vote on an image will have time to do so.
I'll announce here on this thread when the group is created. Agreed?

Re: Kilts in new Sherlock Holmes
Wandering back to discussion of post-Doyle interpretations of Holmes, there's a series by Laurie King about "Mary Russell," a young woman who meets Holmes after his retirement to beekeeping in Sussex -- we've quite enjoyed it! I think the first is "The Bee-Keeper's Apprentice" and they're all available at Amazon and elsewhere.

Re: Kilts in new Sherlock Holmes
The wife and I went to see the movie last nite and we enjoyed it very much. I have been a Sherlock Holmes fan since my boyhood, started when I saw "Hound of the Baskervilles" at an early age. I like Downey, he brings a different Holmes to the screen. Not better or worse, just different. I hope they make several more with him and Jude Law.

Ms.King is a member of the BSI (her investiture being "The Red Circle"). Her books are not bad..but I just can't believe the relationship between Mary and Holmes. But I'm very happy you like them. You might enjoy her site and blog too. http://www.laurierking.com/
She is a very busy woman!
Happy reading,

Re: Kilts in new Sherlock Holmes
Just saw the movie tonight....I really liked it. Mycroft ahem...steals a scene. Would have liked to see more of Lestrade again but maybe in part 3. That will definitely get put into the DVD library when it comes out.
