Re: The perfect hose for Clan Claus?
Wow, that shipping is ridiculous!
They must come in a special leaden box or something.

To me, that's a rip off. BTW, the hose appear to be made by House of Cheviot although I've never seen those in their catalogue. Perhaps a custom item
Those are not House of Cheviot hose. Though if someone were to want a pair of House of Cheviot hose like that, I could supply a HoC sock with a hand knit Fair Isle pattern cuff similar to that.
And, FYIW, I paid about that much in shipping charges on the last box I received from House of Cheviot, which contained 30 pair of hose, and it was shipped 2nd Day delivery. Sorry, Santa!

I was wondering if someone would come up with something like this.

Mr. Tim Little,
In favor of the fine Christmas season may I refer to you as "Tiny Tim"?

Yes it is fact 64.40 pounds for shipping and yes I agree it is way over the top. The 10 meters of tartan I gave you Matt only cost me 74 pounds shipping. However when you have to have something so unique they have you over the barrel.

These do appear to be House of Cheviot. Below is from the specifications on their page:
Size: Small UK 5.5 - 7.5 (European 38-41) Medium UK 8-10 (European 42-44) Large UK 10.5 - 12.5 (European 44-47) X. Large UK 13.14.5 (European 48-50)
Manufacturers: The House of Cheviot
Merino Wool/Acrylic Blend
The foot is fully reinforced with spun nylon offering comfort and wearability where needed.
Made in Scotland
Regardless the shipping on these is way too much for me to ever order from this source.

Well, I was wrong! However, these do appear to be exclusives, which is why you won't see them in the normal House of Cheviot offerings.
But if anyone is seriously interested in having my wife do a pair with custom knit Fair Isle cuffs, just email or PM me. Fair Isle is her favorite type of knitting, so she'd love to do it.

Re: The perfect hose for Clan Claus?
In another thread I had at least one UK-based member of this fine forum offer to accept packages on my behalf and forward them on at a more reasonable (i.e., the standard) shipping rate.
Maybe something to think about for those that can't resist these hose...
EDIT: Or you could have Matt's wife make you a pair like he mentioned above.

Re: The perfect hose for Clan Claus?
My father had jet black hair (black Irish) and it was going grey by 16. haha. I am glad that, in those regards, I inherited my mothers hair. My dad got thick, curly black beautiful hair but I can do without thick and curly as long as mine stays brown for awhile. haha.
