    Re: Scottish Movies ?

There is another charming film starring Bill Travers( who acted as wee Geordie) as a Western Islander who leaves the island to find a wife. As a totally unworldly chap he gets into all sorts of gentle, but funny, scrapes and eventually rows home with a wife! There is a scene where Bill Travers needs clothing PDQ and he has to think several times about wearing a Campbell tartan kilt that happened to be on the clothes line, in desperation he reluctantly does. I cannot remember the name of the film and have not seen it for years.

Might that be The Bridal Path from 1959?

Yes, great series there too. Wee Jock and Hamish...TV John, just brilliant! Too bad there were only a few seasons, alas, Robert Carlyle needed to move on to bigger and better things, like playing the role of Francis Begbie in Irvine Welsh's, Trainspotting, which is another great flick - no kilts though.

You could try looking some likey terms like "highland games" braemar, dunoon, pipers etc on Pathe's movie archive...

If that has problems loading try this as an alternative

Ronald Reagan in "Hasty Heart" is a very good movie--some charactors are kilted. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041445/

I found a synopsis that may help:

Based on a novel by Nigel Tranter, The Bridal Path is a light-hearted look at the somewhat unfortunate results that can come of the continued marrying of fairly close cousins in a restricted and remote community. Set in the Hebrides off Scotland, the story tells how Ewan MacEwan leaves the isle of Eorsa in search of the perfect wife, but finally returns to marry Katie.

I will watch just about anything Carlyle does. He is by far my favorite character in the new Once Upon a Time series on TV. Alas, I don't remember seeing any kilts....

    Re: Scottish Movies ?

Of course this travelogue does raise some questions for me...

    http://backup.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=78536

Like what tartan is used in the titles... What are those guys REALLY going to do with those sheep in the boat???... Was that really a tartan tat shop back in 1950... And which one of the people in the movie is Jock Scott...
