Two very different movies
Neil Marshall ("Dog Soldiers") has just released his latest blood & guts piece, "Centurion." It is very loosely based on the "lost 9th legion" story. Though it is completely rubbish in the historical sense, of course, the Picts/Caledonians' dialog is in Gaelic.
Way over on the other end of the spectrum is an independent film called "Seachd: The Inaccessible Pinnacle." This actually came out in 2007, but to limited release. It is my understanding that most, if not all the main dialog is in Gaelic. I've purchased it, but not seen it yet. Any reviews on this one?

There's a outdoor-cinema showing of Seachd going on in our local village on Saturday which we're hoping to attend - could be good if the midges and rain stay away....

Sounds like a fine evening out. Is this a special occasion, or a regular weekend event?
Midges...how crazy would it sound if I said I had a sick kind of nostalgia for the little beasties? Not that I would ever actually say such a thing out loud...
You mention the local village, and your by-line says by Loch Ness. Would that be Drumnadrochit-Lewiston-Strone area by chance?
I look forward to your review, hope you post it here. Tha mi 'n ḍchas gun c̣rd e riut!

As a Gaelic (Irish) speaker myself, I collect Gaelic cinema. Seachd is a very well made film with some incredible talent. The cinematography and filming is beautiful, with most of it being shot on Skye. Another reason I love this film is that it is very Scottish without being very shortbread.
Another film to check out is Kings. It's all in Irish Gaelic and is a little depressing (as many Irish films tend to be), but also an incredible story and very powerful.

Well, you can't tell us that you collect Gaelic cinema and not come across with a complete, comprehensive list! We are hungry for more!

Seconded! And distributors or retailers for DVDs, if you know of such. I found Seachd through Amazon UK, but have found very little else.

Just saw Centurion last night at my girlfriend's place via Comcast's On Demand service. She quickly concluded "This is a d*ck-flick" and went to sleep out in the living room. I enjoyed it though, despite not finding Etain quite believable.

I'm killed in the war or hung during peace."
