If you're asking about the tartan (which I assume you are since you used the word "mill"), it's 15/16oz. tartan woven by D.C. Dalgliesh.

The lining is made by Robert Kaufman Fabrics.

Fantastic work, Jeff. You're a far braver man than I, taking apart a beauty like that. I get queasy just thinking about pulling a kilt apart- pix like these always seem like photos from an autopsy.

Yes, I was referring to the tartan. This one is on my wish list. I've heard nothing but good things about DC Dalgliesh but so far I've only purchased Marton Mills tartan. Would you mind posting a picture of the selvedge?

There was recently a thread by Paul Henry about his disappointment in the selvedge on a portion of the C'thulu Tartan that he had received...so it would appear that DC Dalgleish doesn't always hit a homerun. That being said, the selvedge on my kilt is as near to perfect as any human could hope to achieve. Here's a couple of pics...sorry it took me so long to answer your query.

Job Well Done Sir !!! It Really Looks Great with the Customized Lining. You may have already thought of this already, But if not, I hope this catches you before a possible disaster happens !!! I read something a while back that I wanted to pass on to you. Usally a lining inside the Kilt is either made of Color Fast or Non-Dyed Material so that Colors won't Bleed through when you sweat while wearing your Kilt. Bleeding Colors can ruin your Shirt or worse yet... Your Kilt !!! And that would be a Disaster if that beautiful piece of Art that you & Barb made together were to get ruined by Bleeding Colors from your lining.

Again... A Great looking Rework & Congrats on the Weight Loss !!!

I was originally looking for a fabric in black that had US Army logos all over it, but didn't really find anything that tickled my fancy. Then I came across this fabric online with recruiting graphics from all of the services on it (WWII era I believe) and a bunch of other military patriotic images. I really liked it, so I ordered it from an online vendor. Pics of the new lining installed (with and without flash...not sure which shows better).

And finally...even with all the changes I have made to the kilt "trimmings"...I felt obliged to replace this tag!

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out...hope you like it too.

I don't imagine there will be any problem with the fabric, I generally use a special lining, and over the course of at least the last five years I have not had any problems at all. Usually it's the strong plain colours which could bleed , rather than prints.
    So don't worry

I simply washed and dried the fabric before cutting it...figured that it would pre-shrink it and get out any unset dye.
