US Army Tartan
I've just verified with Sport Kilts that my order for a Kilt in the US Army tartan is processed and is due back from the sewers today or tomorrow and will be overnighted as soon as they get back. It had to be special ordered since I need a longer kilt than the standard off the rack size.
Hopefully it will arrive on schedule, I need it by July 1st. I am piping the retirement ceremony for a Lt. Col here in the Detroit Area. Greg Benda is the Officer in Charge Material Fielding TACOM. A very good friend and 33 years service. I am proud to be included in the program.
I am also the VFW Post 3901 Piper here in the Marine City/Algonac MI area. I was surprised that the post commander signed the invoice for my kilt and the post will cover the costs.

That's great, Gary. I hope that kilt makes it in time for you. And hooray for your Post Commander! That's mighty decent of the post to pick up the costs. Of course, we'll need pictures when it arrives.

I'll give it every attempt. I am not too sure on how to attach photos to these posts. Too bad, I'm not a slim and trim as the kilt pictured as the Works Kilt on Sport Kilt's web site. (hehehehehe)

Congrats and I hope the kilt makes it there on time for you.
Good on the post for covering the cost for you! Be sure to post a couple of pictures for us.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Don't think there's a greater compliment for your piping than for your friends to pick up the tab for the kilt.

The kilt arrived as promised by Seamus at Sport Kilts. Actually, the deadline was June 27th and it arrived today June 26th. Looks good, wife approves. I know it will make an impression on the Brass assembled for the retirement ceremonies on July 1.
It will look great with the other VFW honor guard personnel for the Viet Nam Movable Wall that will be here from July 24 through July 28.
Now, all I need to do is pipe well and do the tartan proud.

Well done, Gary,
You are, indeed, very honoured to pipe at this occasion. I trust we'll all take a moment to pray that you pipe well on the day.
Cheers,
Bruce
