Re: Thoughts on this tartan
As a Scot I wear only my families tartans so with this kilt I dont have to care about any clan association or heritage, but still have a kilt which is very different from most kilts. Its a 'fashion' tartan but thats fine by me
The only non family tartan I have worn is the Cameron Erracht, a tartan of my now dead grandfather in-law, a man I had great respect for and who I thank for the beautiful wife I have today

Re: Thoughts on this tartan
On my monitor the main color appears to be a dark brown, which i quite like. If it is indeed grey...then not so much. Just an opinion of course and can't wait to see pictures of you wearing it.

Re: Thoughts on this tartan
I know I'm very late to this discussion, But I quite like the look of the fabric. I think the areas of "nothingness" as they have been called are what one could see, in artistic terms, as negative space. What I would consider most important here (as has also been said) is that PASCS likes what he got. Personally, as long as the quality and hand of the cloth were good, and the amount paid was a good value in relation to the quality, I would be pleased too. Wear it in good health! (One last thought, as far as the first picture goes, I might be more inclined to have a waistcoat which contrasts the jacket, a lighter colored, patterned shirt and a real necktie, the ruched noose is not a look I care for.)

Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.

Re: Thoughts on this tartan
I have to say that while this tartan would possibly not be a daily wear in my wardrobe, it would definitely fulfill a role as a "funeral" kilt/tartan. The dark colors convey a formality and somberness to me that is appropriate for that venue. I think it would also work well in a formal (black tie) affair. It would bring the kilt to the occasion, but in a more toned down color scheme that might be more accepted by some who think a kilt is not acceptable black tie attire. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Thoughts on this tartan
I actually quite like that tartan.
What I really like however is that particular jacket/waistcoat. Any idea as to where to procure that one...?
