WHAT a morning! It's off to the gym, and more pictures of your friend and the visiting scarf, in action at Stanford!
Cripes, Alan...I'm going to have to drive all the way over to the University Of Chicago to find a few more Nobel Laureates!

Re: WELSH RUGBY SCARF 2012 ... a travel log in pictures.

OK, I'm back from the gym and have taken care of a few things here at work (installed the new software license server) , time to post more Scarf pictures. Now, when I go to the gym, I don't wear a kilt, though I will for a special occasion in a couple of weeks. Kilts are great, but the weight room is NOT the place for them. So here I am in my red workout shorts, showing the scarf where I train.

I walked into the gym, started stretching, and who showed up but my friend, trainer and Womens Highland Athlete, Donna P. So of COURSE...

The caption on this one, we decided is..."who has the better butt?" The answer is obvious, duh.

Then it's off to the incline bench press....

Where I took the scarf out for a few reps @ 185 pounds....

Then my friend Wendy came by. Wendy is the supervising trainer in Arillaga and is also a professional athlete in the womens fitness and figure competition world. She's awesome!

I tried to get her to do the "who's got the better butt" shot too, but she demurred, which is quite gracious because her hindquarters are a WHOLE lot better toned than mine....310 pounds squats or not. I think I need to do more lunges.

The Welsh Rugby Scarf meets the Cardinal Highland Athletic Club t-shirt!

then it was time for some upright rows to finish off the workout. I added a couple of ounces of extra weight, as you can see.

OK, that's it for today. Tomorrow, I'll wear a tartan kilt and we'll do a walking tour of Stanford, including the Quad, the Church and the Rodin Garden at the Art Museum!

    Cheers!

Excellent job chronicling the adventures of the scarf in photographs there Alan, but I can't help but wonder what the scarf had for lunch...

Lunch is AFTER the workout, and my workout takes 90 minutes, including the walking back and forth to the gym, so I always scarff it super-fast because that's a longish lunch break..

However, the answer was carnitas, salsa, a protein drink, a cookie and a LOT of water!

I noticed a couple opportunities for you to shave some time off your workout, but what fun would that be? I'm probably just jealous--I lift at home and have only myself to chat up. Ugh.

Looking forward to tomorrow's tour. More pretty ladies, please.

Re: WELSH RUGBY SCARF 2012 ... a travel log in pictures.

This morning I took the scarf around the building a bit more, to visit with friends.

Here is Selena, who makes me coffee every morning! I took this picture for three reasons. 1.) I was getting coffee 2.) why not? and 3.) LitTrog wanted more pictures of pretty girls. Hey, I'm going to complain?

...and this is John M. who is the director of the Microscopy facility, sitting in front of one of his "budget" confocal microscopes (about $80,000 worth of microscope right there...)

Then upstairs to the Smith lab, where they do neuroimaging....3-D immunoflurescence imaging of the brain cortex. This is my friend Kristina M., who has helped me a lot in learning more about Islamic beliefs and customs.

Next door to Kristina is Joanne, who is using her microtome to "hide"... Ha!

...and finally, when I was upstairs on the fourth floor to set up a new machine, I conned half of the Brown lab into gathering together for a picture. Rob, Dustin, Rob and Mari all say HI to friends in Wales!

So as you can see, the scarf got a good tour of the research facilities here at the Beckman Center, at Stanford University.

OK, I have about 20+ pictures of my lunchtime walking trip to sort out, I'll have them up soon!
